  Our client, one of the UK’s largest energy providers, required a cable and connectors to power an acoustic fish deterrent system. This project would supply power and signal to eight speakers situated underwater to prevent fish from coming too close to the station’s cooling water intake. It was imperative that the cable have a design life of over 10 years when submerged in sea water to a depth of 15 metres.   The client required reliable umbilical cables to supply power to moveable platforms located in their indoor wave test pool. This project incorporated power, signal data and a 6mm Overall Diameter (OD) pneumatic line within the umbilical. After a full consultation with the customer, Hydrocable Systems designed, tested and engineered 1600m of CS 5975 specifically for this application.   Responding to customer demand, Hydro Cable Systems has developed its CS 1366 cable, suitable for permanent immersion in potable water with no adverse side effects on the environment or cable operation.
